Was Dragonzord alive?
It seemed like it was with the way the Rangers really didn't want to destroy it in "Return of The Green Ranger".

Re: Was Dragonzord alive?
Dragonzord was controlled with the Dragon Dagger. Whatever order the Green Ranger wanted to give to it, he was required to play the well-known tune (sometimes even the secondary tune if the scene required it) if the Dragonzord was to actually do it.
I like to think that the animal-based Zords are somewhere in-between being alive and deceased. Their natural bodies are long-gone, but their souls still want to keep up the fight against evil. So the MM Dinozords, Ninjazords, Shougnzords and pretty much any animal-based Zord was half alive and it somehow had a will of its own. This was demonstrated in PRLG when Torozord refused to obey the original Magna Defender. So it's understandable that the Rangers didn't want to destroy Dragonzord. This makes sense because Kimberly reacts dramatically when she and her teammates witnessed the Thunder Megazord and Tigerzord still trying to stay in the fight, but eventually ended up blowing up and their parts flying all over the place to the ground. Yes, the Thunderzords were based on different animals, but still had something of their Dinozords left in them. Not to mention Lost Galaxy's Stratoforce, Centaurus and Zenith Megazords. The Galactabeasts were clearly alive somehow, even in their Zord and Megazord forms, which is why the Galaxy Megazord and Torozord refused to fight their friends. They recognized them. The same is with the Dragonzord. He doesn't want to fight for evil or destroy anyone or anything, but he can't help himself if he's given the order to do so. He can't just walk away, unlike Dragon Cesar who suffered because of Burai's death in Zyuranger. |

The GalactaBeasts and Torozord both have a will of their own as did Centaurus, Stratoforce and Zenith but we can't say the same thing about other zords except for the Wildzords and most of the ones shown in Dino Charge since we never saw any instances of other zords having a will of their own. |

Re: Was Dragonzord alive?
I think Dragonzord is alive. Even if it was the only Dinozord to be alive. Its telling it was the only zord that could function with just the flute. Also the Rangers clearly felt bad about having to destroy it. Why did the clone have to make Dragonzord evil?

Re: Was Dragonzord alive?
I think the Dinozords were all alive. It was mentioned that they were powered by Dinosuar Spirits.

I agree. We even saw the Sabertooth Spirit protecting Trini in "The Trouble with Shellshock".

Re: Was Dragonzord alive?
Tommy did refer to Dragonzord as his friend a few times.

Re: Was Dragonzord alive?
Thats a good question. The old zords did seem to be alive in a lot ways. I think only the car like zords have no life. Well except for those two cars in Turbo.

Re: Was Dragonzord alive?
I think the Dino Zords were powered by the spirits of the Dinosuars. Even if the physical zords got destroyed, they spirits would still exist and could be enfused in other zords. Just like the Thunderzords were enfused in the Dino Zords.
