Zeo began where MMPR left off. The Rangers had just witnessed the destruction of the Command Center and raced to the ruins. Once the reached the ruins they found the Zeo Crystal on the ground. When they tried to grab it, the crystal caused the Rangers to fall underground to the underground tunnel of the Command Center. The Zeo Crystal mysteriously was absent. The Rangers went around searching to find a way out. They encountered a portal. Alhpa's vioce called form the pottal, telling them to cross over. The Rangers slowly decided to cross over and see where the vortex led them. Meanwhile the Command Center aparently rebuilt itself.

Rita and Zedd were celebrating the demise of the Power Rangers and their aparent victory. Their celebration was cut short when the Machine Empire began to attack them. Lord Zedd and Rita soon realized they were no match for their rivals and would die if they stayed. So Lord Zedd and his forces retreated to Surpenterra in hopes of escaping the Machine Empire's wrath. Realizing they had nowhere to go Rita called her father and asked if they could stay with him, Vile agreed. Zedd reluctantly agreed to go live with Vile even though he didn;t like him. Lord Zedd and Rita's  forcess made it to Serpenterra and escaped. Zedd vowed to return one day to rule the galaxy. The Machine Empire then set their sites on earth. The empire was led my Kng Mondo and his wife Queen Machine, a long with their servants ( Clank and Orbuis). They had a son named Prince Sprocket.

The Rangers had already crossed the vortex  and arrived at a hidden chamber within the Command Center( called the Power Chamber). It was far more state of the ark than the Command Center. The rangers were greated by Alpha and learned that Zordon was safe as well. The two of them had teleported themselves to the hidden chamber before the explosion. Zordon quickly filled the Rangers in on the new threat. He explained that the Machine Empire had broken away from the evil alliance and had conquered a cluster of galaxy's.  The Machine Empire  were far more dangerous than Rita and Zedd ever could be. The Rangers were the only ones left who could stand against King Mondo. Zordon explained to them that the zeo crystal ( when it disapeared it went to Zordon and Alpha aparently) would give the Rangers new powers that were far greater than their old ones. But their were only five zeo subcrystals and six Rangers. Billy decided to retire as an active Ranger. He decided he would be better used as a tech guy like he was to the alien rangers. He decided to let Tonya officially become a Ranger in his place. Thus Zordon gave the Rangers their new powers. Each of them were given to zeonizers. Each also got a Zeo Subcrystal that went into their zeonizers; Kat became Zeo Ranger 1 Pink. Tonya became Zeo Ranger 2 Yellow. Rocky became Zeo Ranger 3 Blue. Adam became Zeo Ranger 4 Green. And Tommey (still the leader of the Rangers) became Zeo Ranger 5 Red. Together they were the Power Rangers Zeo. Their old suits and weapons appeared in a display in the Power Chamber. King Mondo had already sent his mattalic worrier cogs to conquer Earth. The Rangers engaged their new powers and were able to defeat them with their new Zeo powers. Mondo was excited with the challenge that laid before him. He wanted to defeat the Power Rangers and conquer earth.

Tonya also got used to her life a Ranger fairly quickly. She befriended Adam and learned much about Martial Arts from him. She stayed with Kat and her family. She also met a boy named Shawn. Unfottunatly Shawn treated her bad and they had to break up. Later Shawn and Tonya would later make up and decided to be friends.

Bulk and Skull were still jr. police officers and brought themselves a police bike. They found Rita and Goldar. The two villians had amniesia ( It seemtd they dropped the zeo crystal after their escape, somehow by touching the crystal they lost all their memories). It didn't take long for Bulk and Skull to take advantages of Rito and Goldar's memory loss. They made the two their servants in exchange for taking care of them. The four became friends.

Billy quickly worked with Alpha to create new zords for the Rangers. These Zeo Zords could were assigned to each Ranger and could combine to form the Zeo Megazord. Mondo had Orbus reconfigured so he could make his robotic monsters grow. The Rangers were able to use their zords to defeat Mondo's giant  monsters.

Billy found out he was graduating from High School early since he had enough credits to do so. His graduation party was interrupted when he was greated by one of his Alien Ranger friends. The Alien ranger Rxplained to the Earth Rangers that Aquitar was at war and needed help. A race knowwn as the Hydro Contaminators had pillaged their lands. Billy was needed to help repair their systems. Billy agreed to go to Aquiatar till the war there was resolved. Unfortunatly a Hydro Contaiminator had followed Ceastro. Luckly the Rangers were able to defeat the alien. Billy left  for Aquitar with the Alien Ranger .

The Rangers briefly continued battling Mondo without Billy.  Fortunately it did not take long for Billy to return home. The Aquations were abe to resolve their situation peacefully and Billy embarked home on a space ship. Mondo tried to stop him from reaching home safely but the Rangers made sure Billy made it home.

Kimberly wrote Tommy a Dear John letter. She claimed she had met someone else and was breaking up with him. She told him she would always love him as a friend. Tommey was depressed that he lost kimberly. Billy and Kat took him to a snowboarding lodge to chear him up. But Mondo tried to attack them and attack the othe Rangers back in Angel Grove. Tommy was able to meet a women who was champion snowboarder.Tommey had feelings for the woman. But everytime he tried to get together with her she had to leave for his Ranger duties. Tommey decided to leave the ski lodge since Angel Grove wa under attack. Kat was able to set up a date between Tommy and his new girl. She turned the jiuce bar into a pretend  classy resturant. Unfortunaly Tommey had to ditch his new girl again to help the Rangers defeat Mondo's monster. The Rangers won the day but Tommy returned to the Juice Bar to find his girlfriend had left. Kat was sorry everything didn't work out. Tommy thanked her for being so nice. The two friends than shared a dance.

Billy used  technology from Aquitar to help make a new zord The zord required Tommy to sync his mental energy with it to use it effectivly. Tommy had difficuilty doing this. At this time Tommy began to have dreams about his half  arrow head( it had been give to him during his quest to find his Zeo Subcrystal). These dreams bothered Tommey and prevented him from syncing with the Red Battle Zord Tommey was visited a  man who looked like the one who gave hm his half of  the the arrow head. The man told Tommy that he had to go on a vision quest. After succesfully  completeing the quest Tommy learned he had a brother named David. David had his own half of the arrow head. They conbined their two halfs to make one arrowhead.

Tommey tried to get to know his brother. Meanwhile Mondo learned that the arrow head they shared was the key to serveral ancient monsters that  had been locked away long ago. Tommy and David were showing off their martial arts skills, Tommy beat David in the sparring session. David got mad and stormed off. Mondo captured David and ransomed him for the arrow head. Tommy had no chioce but to give the arrow head to Mondo. Tommey was betrayed by the Machine King and didn't get his brother back. Mondo than unleashed one of the  ancient monsters. Tommy eagerly tried  to find his brother and was able to finally synch with his new zord. The Rangers destoryed the ancient monster. Tommy was able to retrieve the arrow head and free his brother. The two apologized to each other for their fight. They separated the arrow head and agreed to both gaurd it  separatly.

Bulk fell for a girl at the Jiunior Plilce Headquaters. She just happened to be the police cheif's daughter. Bulk tried to impress her but it didn't work. Bulk and Skull  angered the police chief and LT. Stone was fired. Bulk and Skull decided to quit since their boss was being fired wrongly. Bulk got the girl in the end. Lt. Stone started his own detective agency. Bulk and Skull agreed to work for him as Jionior Detectives.

A mysterious new Ranger began to show up to help the Rangers during their battles. The new Ranger was donned in black with markings of gold over him.  He refused to tell the Rangers his idendity but became powerful ally. He piloted a carrier zord called Pryamidous. The Rangers could combine their zords with Prymidious to make the Zeo Ultrazord.  The Rangers continued to speculate on who the Gold Ranger was. Many of the Rangers started to think it was Billy since he was constantly sneaking around working on some secret project. He always was missing with the  Gold Ranger showed up. Billy always denied it and it was soon proven true that Billy was not the Gold Ranger.

The Gold Ranger was targeted be Byrax bounty hunters. During a battle in space the Byrax shot Prymidas down. The Gold Ranger crash landed on Aquitar. He demoprhed and was injured. The Aquations nursed him back to health. The Alien Rangers contacted the Rangers on earth and informed them of the Gold Ranger's troubles. The Alien Rangers teleported the Gold Ranger to earth. The Rangers found him and finally saw his civilan identity. He introduced himself as Trey, from the plaent Triforia. He was  from a planet that dedicated itself to helping other planets under attack. Trey revealed to the Rangers his three forms. It seemed the people of Triforia all had three forms. The Gold Ranger needed to keep his three forms in sync to use the Gold Ranger Power. Since his three forms were not synced right he couldn't us the Gold Ranger power anymore. He needed to find a temporaly replacement till he could find a way to recombine himself. The Rangers first chioce was Billy. Unfotunalty the gold powers wouldn't transfer over to Billy. It seems the blast that went into him when the Command Center exploded put some kinda negative energy into his body. It wasn't harmful to him but Billy couldn't absorb the Gold Ranger Powers because of this. Tommy had another idea.

Tommy went to the outskirts of Angel Grove to get his chioce for the Gold Ranger powers. Mondo sent his forced to intercept Tommey and the Gold Ranger replacement before they could get in teleportation range.  Mondo wanted the gold powers for himself. Tommy and his friend were able to make it into teleportation range and were brought to the Power Chamber. Tommey revealed his friend to everyone,it was Jason. He had returned from the peace conference and was ready to become the new Gold Ranger. Meawhile Mondo had five of his monsters coated in a special alloy. He sent one of the monsters after the Rangers. Jason was able to recivive the gold powers from Trey in time to help the Rangers defeat Mondo's monster. Mondo made his monster grow and sent the four other monsters to attack ( also making them grow). Before Trey left to Triforia he gave the Tangers five gems that were meant for the right full holders of the Zeo Crystal. The gems turned into the ancient Superzeo Zords. These zord would be perfect to deal with Mondo's alloy covered  monsters.  The old Zeo Zords were no match against the five monsters attackng and would have only have being destoryed . Trey than left telling Jason to gaurd the powers till he returned for them. The zeo Rangers used their five Superzeo zords to defeat Mondo's five monsters.

Meanwhile Rito and Goldar were visted by Lord Zedd and Rita (in their dreams). The duo got all their  memories back and turned on Bulk and Skull. They than jioned with Rita and Zedd on the Moon. Rita and Zedd had returned and vowed to bring down the Machine Empire.

Jason quickly adjusted to being back on the team. He met a girl named Emily who he began to become close with. Trey sent Jason the Worrier Wheel  and sent him Prymidas ( it had been repaired).  Mondo became desparate and decided to use a powerful sword to go destory the Rangers himself. The Rangers were able to  defeat Mondo and destory him with the Super Zeo Megazord. Queen Machina told her son that Mondo had been destoryed before and would return stronger than ever soon.

Rita and Zed siezed the opertunity to send their own robot  (Louie Kaboom) to take over the Machine Empire. Louie quickly took the role as leader of the Machine Empire but forgot about Rita and Zedd. The Rangers were able to defeat Kaboom's plans just as easliy as they did Mondo's. But a new threat emerged . King Mondo and Machina's oldest son returned with his Wife (Archina). It seemed Prince Gasket married the daughter of Mondo's hated enemy ( thus angering his father). Gasket now returned to take control of the Machine Empire. Archina hit Louie Kaboom with a love arrow and told him to destroy the Power Rangers for her. The Rangers were able to destory Louie Kaboom for good allowing Gasket to take control of the Machine Empire.

Gasket captured Tommy and erased all of his memories. He than sent him to his gladiator like demension. Gasket began to trick Tommy into thinking that he  was the Machine King. He told him the Power Rangers were evil and were his sworn enimies. Jason and the Rangers were able to finally make it to the demension (with Lord Zedd's secret help since he wanted Gasket dead)  to try to save Tommy. Meanwhile Bulk and Skull accidently made it to the demenion and were locked up with a great worrier. The captured worrier explained that his world was conquered by Gasket and he was made to play in the arena games. The hero believed Bulk and Skull were great worriers. Together the three escaped theirs cells and went to destory the forcefield around the demension. Meanwhile Tommey began to fight his friends thinking they were evil. Kat demorphed and tried to get Tommey to remember. The others demorphed and Tommy remembered who he was. Unfortunatly, when the Rangers tried to teleport out they were trapped by a force field. All of Gasket's monsters were about to attack them. Just than Bulk, Skull and their new friends destoryed the forcefield allowing the Rangers to escape. Bulk and Skull's new friend took them back to Rarth before returning to his own world ( promising stories of them would be told for ages).

The Rangers continued to battle Gasket and his forces. Tonya found her family on a deserted island. Using an artifact they found they Rangers were able to summon Auric The Conqueror to aid them in their fights.

Meanwhile, Billy had aged to the age of an old man. The Rangers found out that the negative energy he asorbed in the Command Center expolision did this to him. The Rangers contacted the Alien Rangers about a possible cure. The Alien Rangers sent their tech girl (who had be friended Billy during Billy's stay on aquitar). Unfortunatly she was unable to cure billy. The Rangers teamed up the Alien Rangers to defeat Gasket's latest monster. Billy went bak to Aquitar to try their fountain of youth. This plan worked and Billy was returned to normal. Billy decided to stay on Aquitar with the Alian Ranger's tech girl (Ceastria) since he loved her. The Rangers said goodbye to Billy and wished him the best.

Mondo returned and regained his thrown. Archina and Gasket fought the Rangers at giagantic sizes. The Rangers used their zords to defeat Gasket and Archina. They  decided to leave after their defeat and because Mondo was now back in charge. Meanwhile, Jason began to have problems sustaining the Gold Ranger Power. He barley got away from the forces of Zedd, Rita and the Machine Empire ( the two began fighting each other allowing Jason to escape).

After many scans the Rangers found out the gold power wasn't meant for humans and was starting to kill Jason. They had to transfer it back to Trey but his three forms were not  recombined yet. They decided to do a dangerous precedure. When Trifora, Earth and Aquitar were aliened they could use power beam to recombine Trey and give him back the gold power. Trey returned to Earth to  help the Rangers. The Rangers raced to get in postion and suffered an attack by the Machinr Empire. The Rangers got Jason and Trey in position and the power transfer was a succus. Mondo made himself grow, a long with a few of his cogs. Trey now the Gold Ranger again, used his staff to make  the him and the other Five Rangers grow. The Rangers defeated Mondo in battle. Back on the moon Mondo and his court meant with Rita and Zedd.

Rita and Zedd surrendered and said  that they were given up. They gave Mondo and his family a going away present. Rita, Zedd and their forces than left the Machine Empire to their fate. The Machine King opened the package. The package was a bomb.  The bomb went off, blowing  Mondo and his court into pieces.

Bulk and Skull were tired of being treated like second rate detectives and went to France on a mission with some spy. Meanwhile Tommy  went to talk to Jason about losing the gold powers. Jason was alright and went off into the sunset with Emily. Kat and Tommy than walked off together content that Jason was happy.
