MMPR 2 Facts

1. Orginally, plans were made for toei to construct new zords for the Rangers to use during season 2 of the show . Ultimatly those early plans were nixed in favor of mixing Zuyo 2 footage with footage of the Dairanger sentai show. The Rangers kept their original Zyuranger costumes but recieved new thunderzords( derived from mecha in dairanger). The scenes of the old zords turning into the Thunderzords did not appear in Dairanger and had to be spliced together with . Season 2 got futher make over as American made Lord Zedd replaced Rita Repulsa( Who was actually taken from the zyeranger show, her voice was dubbed over in english). Later Rita would return but would be played by an American actress.

2. Season 2 marked a big change for PR has part of fox kid's lineup. Season 1's episode had aired in the early week day mornings. This season marked the beginning Of PR's long run in the fox kids weekday after noon line up. It was given a 4:30 PM time slot and became the blocks anchor. Just prior to the start of the televsion season Fox gave Power Rangers a prime time slot ( airing the three part season primere early) for three weeks. The hit marvel comics based fox show( X Men) followed Power Rangers' slot.

3. Actors; Austin St. John, Walter Jones, and Thuy Trang left the show over a salery despute. They were tired of being under paid and all the hours they had to work extra due to the shows popularity. They tried to walk out to get more money and they ended up leaving the show. Due to their sudden departure a whole group of episodes had to be spliced together with stock footage to make it seem like the actor's character were still part of the show. Steve Cadenza, Johnny Young Bosch, and Karan Ashley were soon cast as their replacements. According to tv guide, it later became a joke on the set to the actors that they'd better be good or would be sent to a peace conference ( where the characters of the departing actors were sent).

4. Tommy was made the White Ranger ( From dairanger footage ) since the green ranger didn 't have a lot of footage due to the green ranger's death in zyuranger. In dairanger the White Ranger was a boy named Kou .

5. In "StoryBook Rangers" the teens faced Mondo the Magician. Cocidantly this fight was taken from dairanegr fottage. Mondo's sentai counterpart is Dairanger main villan Sadam. Aprarently, Mondo is of no realation to Mondo the Machine KIng. Grumble the Magic Elf's Costume was recycled from the old Ticklesneezer costume ( from a season 1 good natured monster). This would happen a lot in Power Rangers due to budget reasons.

6. When the Rangers are sent to eighten century Angel Grove, some things some things stick out as strange. Angel Grove is supposed to be a Califorinian town, thus would not be an english coloney filled with Red Coats. California was spanish territory at the time and wasn't anywhere near the english colonies. Chris Funaro has a theory that the wizard of deception may have sent them to a fake made up world that was supposed to be similar to the time period ( but with duplicates of people from present day Angel Grove). This is just a theory ( although a very good one) and should not be considered canon. Their is also evidence that confirms the fact that the rangers indeed went back in time. It even seems to be refered to that way on the show. Like many have thought, maybe the pr universe has a differnet history than ours. Some people also question as to whether the Tommy Clone retained his power coin. While this issue remains vague , it seems to be true that he turned his cion into a hat and lost use of its power. 7. When Kim went back in time to the West. We certianly got a idealized version. Their seemed top be no racism. Plus its kind of stange to think that Angel Gove could go from a British Coloney like we saw earlier to a Western town in a less than one hundred year span ( just look at all the houses were all spread out during the first time travel episode to how things are small and closed in on the second). This is of course if you reject Funaro's theory ( in the above entry).

8. Due to the production of MMPR the movie, some filming was done in Austriala ( the site of the movie production). The wedding three parter was shot in the country ( which was probably the reason for the Rangers on screen class trip to Austrila).
